As of August 2007, Gosford City and Wyong Shire Councils have formally endorsed WaterPlan 2050, the long-term blueprint for managing the Central Coast’s water resources over the next four decades.
 
Work has now begun on implementing the key actions outlined in this plan, including construction of the new Mardi-Mangrove Link.

What is IWCM?

Integrated Water Cycle Management (IWCM) is a best practice approach to water utility strategic planning. The IWCM process seeks to take an integrated approach to the management of urban water services and includes consideration of water, sewerage and stormwater to meet community and environmental needs.

Gosford City and Wyong Shire Councils have developed an IWCM strategy for their local government area within a Central Coast context.

As part of the overall IWCM strategy, each Council has developed a separate IWCM sub-plan to fit within WaterPlan 2050.

A document that links Gosford City and Wyong Shire Councils’ separate IWCM documents and WaterPlan 2050 was developed to complete the strategy.

The Central Coast’s IWCM strategy therefore consists of the following documents:

1. WaterPlan 2050 - addresses the regional/inter-regional bulk water supply options.
      
2. IWCM sub-plan for each Council to deal with the local IWCM issues relevant to each Local Government Area (LGA)
      
3. WaterPlan 2050 IWCM Linking Document – to provide an overarching framework that links each Council’s IWCM Sub-Plan and WaterPlan 2050.
